The world’s richest man and American industrialist Elon Musk on Friday added a new reason for canceling the Twitter deal. He added a secret payment made to a whistleblower to his list of reasons. According to Elon Musk, it was reasonable to cancel the deal to buy the social media platform for $ 44 billion for all these reasons.
According to the letter filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, a termination letter sent to Twitter alleges the firm paid several million dollars to security chief Peter Zatko in June. According to the letter, Peter Zatko filed a complaint with a whistleblower criticizing Twitter’s security practices.
Elon Musk’s lawyers argued that Twitter did not obtain consent from Elon Musk before paying Peter Zatko. Hence, this became another legal basis for canceling the Twitter deal.
Twitter has objected to this. Twitter attorney William Savitt said, “My friends are arguing that Twitter is unnecessarily calling Elon about a disgruntled former employee who had made various allegations and was questioned and all of his allegations were found to be baseless. Musk should have told.” Twitter attorney Savitt said there was no justification for this. However, Twitter did not comment on Elon Musk’s allegations.
