Get a 53% discount
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that in 2019-20, Railways has given a subsidy of Rs 59,837 crore on passenger tickets. All citizens traveling on the train get an average discount of 53 percent on fares. Along with this, Divyangjans, students, and patients get many types of concessions apart from this exemption. In this case, the Railway Board says that it is planning to give concessions to senior citizens. The idea is to reduce the cost of these concessions while retaining the subsidy to senior citizens. No terms and conditions have been decided yet.
The discount was available before Corona
Explain that before March 2020, railway men used to get 40 percent relaxation after the age of 60 years. At the same time, after the age of 58 years, women used to get a 50 percent discount on the fare.
Increase in railway earnings
There has been a tremendous increase in the earnings of the Railways this time. According to the data released by the Railways, between April 2022 and December 2022, ie in just 9 months, Rs 48,913 crore has been earned from rail fares. Compared to last year, this time there has been an increase of 71 percent.
