Lonar Lake is like a mystery, this type of water body is not found anywhere else in India.
This lake is 150 meters deep. The water here is alkaline as well as saline. And there are also pools of fresh water at its edges. Why is it like this? Its clue is hidden in the unique texture of this lake.
It is known from the sky that this lake is in a lower part. Which has a slope of 137 meters high on each side, how such a strange poor texture lake would have been formed, everything about it is surprising.
The answer is hidden in a satellite view, Lonar Lake is inside an impact crater. Scientists believe that about 50 thousand years ago a 2 million-ton asteroid collided in central India.
Water filled that crater, then life started in it. About 1 decade ago, scientists found a special type of organism in the water of Lonar Lake. Research shows that it has a one-way bacteria that use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate itself.
Some believe that some of these creatures may be related to some other world in our solar system.

Lonar Lake also has historical importance
How old this lake is can be gauged from the fact that it is also mentioned in Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, and Ain-e-Akbari. By the way, it got recognition in 1823 when British officer J. E Alexander arrived here. Remains of many ancient temples are also present near Lonar Lake.
These include- – Daityasudan Temple – This temple is situated on the banks of Lonar Lake. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Durga, Surya, and Narasimha. The structure of this temple is similar to the temples of Khajuraho.
Apart from this, ancient Lonardhar Temple, Kamalja Temple, and Motha Maruti Temple are present here.

By Air: The nearest airport to Lonar Lake is Aurangabad Airport. Its distance from here is 157 km. You can reach Lake from the airport by cab.
By Train: The nearest railway station to Lonar is at Jalna, which is at a distance of 90 km from here.
By Bus: You can take a bus or a cab to reach the lake. by road State and private buses are easily available from Aurangabad and Buldhana to Lake.
