The stock of Bajaj Finserv saw a gain of more than 6% percent during the opening trade on Tuesday (13th September 2022). Ex-bonus and stock split trading started in the stock, the effect of which was visible in the stock prices. In early trading, the price of Bajaj Finserv jumped 6.1 percent to Rs 1821 per share. The ex-bonus date of the company’s bonus is 13th September 2022. The date for the bonus has been kept by Bajaj Finserv as the date of 14th September.
The shares of Bajaj Finserv are getting split in the ratio of 1:5. Post the stock split, the face value of Bajaj Finserv shares will be Rs 5 to Rs 1. The company has also fixed the record date for the stock split on 14th September. That is, the company is trading as X-Split on 13 September.
Earlier, the Bajaj Finserv board had approved a stock split or sub-division of equity shares in the ratio of 1:5. Along with this, the issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1: 1 was also approved. How will the shares be allotted to the investors?
According to ICICI Direct, an eligible shareholder will get split shares and multiples of bonus shares in the number of shares held by him. For example, let’s say a shareholder holds 200 shares of Bajaj Finserv. ICICI Direct says, “If the investor’s net shareholding in the stock is 2000 (200 x 5 x 2) after the split in the ratio of 5:1 and issue of 1:1 bonus shares.”
Investors holding shares of Bajaj Finserv before the record date (14th September 2022) will be eligible for split shares and bonus shares. The record date is the cut-off date on or before which you need to hold the shares in your Demat account for the benefit of splits and bonuses. Shareholders who ‘hold’ the shares of that company before the record date are eligible for the benefit of a stock split/stock bonus.
