Sameer Minhas’ Record 172 Powers Pakistan to U19 Asia Cup Glory
DUBAI, Dec 21, 2025 – In a clinical display of power and precision, Pakistan’s Under-19 team crushed arch-rivals India by 191 runs to clinch the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 title. This victory marks Pakistan’s first outright title in the tournament’s history and their first since sharing the trophy with India in 2012.
The Minhas Masterclass
After being asked to bat first at the ICC Academy Ground, Pakistan opener Sameer Minhas played the innings of a lifetime. Minhas decimated the Indian bowling attack, smashing 172 off just 113 balls. His whirlwind knock included 17 boundaries and 9 sixes, setting a new record for the highest individual score in a U19 Asia Cup final.
Minhas shared a steadying 92-run stand with Usman Khan (35) before shifting gears in a massive 137-run partnership with Ahmed Hussain (56). Despite a late fightback from India’s Deepesh Devendran (3/83) that saw Pakistan slip from 302/3 to 327/8, the target was already dauntingly high at 348.
India’s Batting Collapse
Chasing a target of 348, India’s innings began with chaotic energy. While Vaibhav Suryavanshi (26 off 10) provided a flicker of hope with three sixes, the momentum shattered when captain Ayush Mhatre fell for 2 in the third over.
Pakistan’s pace spearhead Ali Raza was unstoppable, claiming 4/42 to rip through the heart of the Indian top order. India slumped to a precarious 68/5 within the first 10 overs. While No. 10 batter Deepesh Devendran provided late resistance with 36 runs, India was eventually bundled out for 156 in just 26.2 overs.
