Chenab Bridge: World’s highest railway bridge built in India, a height more than Eiffel Tower
A wonder world’s highest railway bridge, “The Chenab Bridge” is being built in the beautiful plains of Kashmir.
Chenab Rail Bridge: 1315 meters long, built at a height of 359 meters above the river bed and made of 476 meters long arch, this bridge is higher than buildings like the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Unity.
This bridge over the Chenab River in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is part of the Udhampur-Reasi-Anantnag-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project. It has been constructed by AFCONS Construction Company.
Now listen to an amazing thing, 25000 thousand tons of metal is used in it, that is, 3 times more than the Eiffel Tower.
It will connect Salal-e and Dugga railway stations on either side of the bridge to the mighty Chenab River in the Reasi district.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that “the USBRL project is likely to be completed by December 2023“.

More than 1,300 workers and 300 engineers worked round the clock to complete the bridge on time. The construction work started in 2004, but the work was stopped for some time in 2008-09 due to the safety of rail passengers due to frequent high-velocity winds in the area.

The bridge has been designed for blast load for the first time in India in consultation with DRDO. The bridge will be able to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8 and can also withstand the blast of 30 kg of explosives.
