Golden Boot Award History
The Golden Boot Award in football officially began in the year 1982. Earlier its name was Golden Shoe but in the year 2010, it was changed to Golden Boot. Till 2006, the award was given in the name of Golden Shoe. Since 2010, it is being given in the name of Golden Boot. The player who scores the most goals in the Football World Cup gets the Golden Boot. In terms of scoring goals, the second-placed player gets the Silver Boot and the third-placed player gets the Bronze Boot.
Golden Boot Winner Rule
The question that might be coming to your mind is that if two players have scored the same number of goals in a World Cup, then how will the Golden Boot Award be decided? In such a situation, it was decided in 1994 that if two players have the same number of goals, then it will be seen that the player who has assisted more goals will get this award. Considering this, FIFA’s technical committee gives its judgment and chooses the winner. Last year this award was won by England captain Harry Kane. He scored six goals in the tournament.
